Backpack Blessing & School Supplies Collection

For the next two weeks (August 20 & 27), we will be adding to our regular offering with school supplies. The next time you’re at Target, pick up some kid-safe scissors, a box of markers, or an extra box of Ziplock bags. If you’ve been saving paper or pencils for “someday,” it might be today!  Your generosity can change a child’s — or a whole classroom’s! — opportunity for success this year.

If you’re worrying about how to afford the school supplies your child needs, please see Pastor Emmy for how we can help.

As our own kids, teachers, and staff head back to school, we want them to know how supported and beloved they all are. On Sunday August 27, we invite all those headed back to school to bring in their bags of all shapes and sizes.  We’ll bless your backpacks and briefcases — and you! — and add a keychain to your zipper to remind you that God (and Grace Lutheran!) is with you in both sorrows and joys this school year.

Keyla Christenson

Keyla Christenson

On the second Saturday of the month, Grace Lutheran Church children grades K-6 are invited to come spend a few hours with Keyla Christenson, Mercy Seat’s Children’s Church Director. The group will study the Bible, sing songs, and play games. The first Youth Group of the year 2016 will be on January 9, 11 am-12:30 pm! The rest of dates for spring are: February 13 (Cancelled), March 12, April 9, and May 14.

Please meet in the Grace Center gymnasium for child drop off. Parents are welcome to join or feel free to leave the kiddos to get in some adult time for yourself!

We’re glad you found us. You’ve come to the right place to find out more about Grace Lutheran Church, what we believe, ways to worship with us, and how you can be of help or how you can make use of the community services at our location.

Vote To Change Name Unanimously Approved!

Northeast Community Lutheran Now Grace Church A special congregational meeting was held on Sunday, April 6 to vote on changing our name from “Northeast Community Lutheran Church” to “Grace Lutheran Church of Northeast Minneapolis.” The name change passed unanimously. This new name orients us firmly in God’s grace and aligns our name more directly with Grace Center, the community center project that we started back in 2010. The new name will be officially introduced and begin to be used on Sunday, May 4, on the occasion of our congregation’s 7th anniversary.
