On Sunday, September 8, 2013, members and friends of our church engaged in a variety of service projects as part of the ELCA’s 25th anniversary celebration. We met in the sanctuary at the regular start time for worship for a brief prayer service and then went out to do projects. Service projects included:
- Assembling care packages and bagging bulk items for the Little Kitchen Food Shelf
- Finishing two quilts to be given to families in need
- Spreading wood dhips in a nearby park
- Picking up trash on the west bank of the Mississippi river.
- Volunteers assembled nearly 100 personal care packages for Little Kitchen Food Shelf guests, as well as bagged bulk beans and rice.
- Quilters finished tying two quilts that will be given to families in need.
- Twenty-three adults and kids worked side-by-side for two hours spreading wood chips in Logan Park.
- A group of adults and kids walked the west bank of the Mississippi near the Minneapolis Park Board headquarters to pick up trash.
- Picking up trash wasn’t always fun, but we did it anyway.
- We “rocked on” in service to God!
