Low-Cost Summer Day Camps: It’s time to think about summer! 

Here at Grace Center we’re gearing up for another year of low-cost summer day camps, and looking forward to seeing all the familiar   faces — plus some new ones! We are offering 5 camps (and possibly more) in 2017, please see below for descriptions, dates & times. Please note some camps are offered concurrently.

Camp Fees: We have changed our pricing structure to a sliding fee scale, to more accurately serve our camper families. Based on  family size and income, and the number of children you register, camp registration fees will range between $0 – $100.00 per camp. When you register your child you will be able to see what type of assistance your family qualifies for, if any, before you finalize payment. If you have any questions about this, call Jennifer at 612-788-2444 x12. Sliding fee scale is based on US Dept. of Health & Human Services 2015 Poverty and Income Guidelines, and MN Dept. of  Human Services childcare assistance criteria

sun2Camp CityFarm Junior Chefs
June 26-30, 2017: Ages 10 to 14
Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.

Junior Chefs will prepare their own meals each day and learn meal planning & kitchen skills. They’ll also learn about good nutrition, food justice, and urban farming. This camp is ideal for kids who have done CityFarm Green Team in the past; but previous experience is not required. Jennifer Schultz, Principal Instructor.

sun2NEW! Camp World Builders
July 10-14, 2017 OR July 24-28, 2017: Ages 10-14
Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.

World Builders is a brand-new camp for 10-14 year olds who love the “alternate worlds” of science fiction, fantasy, and superheroes – from Harry Potter to Star Wars to Pokemon and beyond. Kids’ existing passion about alternate worlds will be celebrated & used to develop critical skills in identity exploration, group dynamics and cooperation, research and presentation, imagination and creative writing, and advocacy and activism. Pr. Emmy Kegler, Principal Instructor. We provide healthy snacks, breakfast and lunch. Meals provided by the Minneapolis Public Schools Summer Meals Program.

sun2Camp CityFarm Green Team WEEK ONE
July 10-14, 2017: Ages 6 to 9
Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.
Kids will learn hands-on skills including Gardening and simple & safe Cooking for kids; plus we’ll learn about good nutrition, taste new foods and learn fun stuff like worm  composting, honey production, urban farming and more! Staffed by experienced volunteers including chefs, a Master Gardener, a food bank Nutritionist, a vermiculture specialist and others. Children will at times consume food they prepare on site; we also provide healthy snacks, breakfast and lunch. Jennifer Schultz, Principal Instructor. We provide healthy snacks, breakfast and lunch. NEW! There is an optional WEEK TWO for this camp, July 17-21, 2017, with similar programming but enough changes to keep it fresh! You can also enroll in Week Two by itself. Meals provided by the Minneapolis Public Schools Summer Meals Program.

July 17-21, 2017: Ages 6 to 9 (You can enroll in Week One and/or Week Two.)
Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.

sun2Above the E.D.G.E. Basketball Camp
July 17-21, 2017: Ages K – 3rd Grade
Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.
E=Excellence, D=Dreams, G=Goals, E=Education. Boys and girls learn basketball skills at age-appropriate levels, and develop confidence and positive relationships during teaching sessions. Kids have the option to bring money to buy snacks from the Coach’s Canteen; we will otherwise provide healthy snacks, breakfast and lunch. Meals provided by the Minneapolis Public Schools Summer Meal Program. 

sun2STEM Camp for Girls
July 24-28, 2017: Ages 6-9    
Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.
Teaching the next generation of business leaders and executive employees how to be entreprenurial and intraprenurial. Scientists, artists and business professionals help students synthesize character education, academics and skills acquisition. We provide healthy snacks, breakfast and lunch. Meals provided by the Minneapolis Public Schools Summer Meals Program.
